Roy Kreger “Mr. Woolly Worm” and “Merryweather” the mascot visited FOX8 today to tell folks about the 36th Annual Woolly Worm Festival.

The festival will be held in downtown Banner Elk this weekend. The festival will run from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday.

Tickets are $5 for adults and $2 for children. Ages 4 and under are free. Tickets can be purchased at www.woollyworm.com

Fall foliage boat tours at Lake Brandt

GREENSBORO, N.C. — The Parks and Recreation Department is offering fall foliage pontoon boat tours at Lake Brandt Marina.

The 45-minute boat ride is $5.00 per person, with a four person minimum per tour.

Weekday tours are October 17 and 18 and 23, 24, 25, departing at 5:30 p.m.

Weekend tours are October 19 and 20 and 26 and 27 departing at 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — The 80-year-old man who was reported missing Wednesday returned home safely early this morning.

Edward Leon Robertson, 80, was reported missing from 710 Cole St., Greensboro. Police issued a Silver Alert due to his cognitive impairments.

A family notified officials that he had returned home unharmed around 8:30 a.m. Thursday.

– Stuffing sausage demonstrations

– Candy apple tastings

– Make and taste applesauce (hands-on)

– Hearth cooking with pork and apples
