Goodwill employee doesn’t let pain slow him down

Goodwill employee doesn’t let pain slow him down.

Tony Gilmore has a highly technical job of trouble-shooting, correcting and getting computers up and running at Goodwill Industries of Northwest North Carolina.

“I like working on different brands of computers,” Gilmore said.

He also gets to do another job he loves — interacting with customers who want to buy or need information about refurbished computers.

Gilmore has a large customer following at various Goodwill stores.

“He has a lot of customers who come here specifically because of the stuff that he builds,” Andrew True, Goodwill’s transportation and E-Cycle manager, said of the Goodwill on Peters Creek Parkway.

Thomas Royal, a multimedia public relations specialist for Goodwill, said that it’s wonderful to watch Gilmore interact with customers.

“People will come in and they’ll just wait until Tony is available to talk to them because he’s patient and he explains things,” Royal said.

Gilmore wasn’t always focused on computers and electronics.
