KERNERSVILLE, N.C. — A special ceremony will take place Thursday morning, as the new 9/11 Memorial at the Carolina Field of Honor is dedicated.

The ceremony will dedicate the new 9/11 Memorial at 8:46 a.m.

A steel beam salvaged from Ground Zero will be on display at Triad Park in Kernersville, and serve as a tribute and reminder of a day that Americans will never forget.

The beam was donated to the War Memorial Foundation by the company DH Griffin — which helped cleaned up in the aftermath of the attacks.

Organizers say they want this to be something that resonates with all generations.

Field of Honor officials say the memorial is intended to be a place of remembrance and honor for all who have served our country.

The ceremony is free and open to the public.
