Under The Dome Returns to Wilmywood for a 3rd Season!

Great News for North Carolina Film Makers. Under The Dome Returns to Wilmywood for a 3rd Season!

The Wilmywood Daily

Yep!  It’s official.  After months of consideration and some really hard work from a few folks, Under the Dome will be returning to Wilmywood after all.  WECT confirmed the information with EUE/Screen Gems Vice Prez Bill Vassar less than an hour ago.

CBS made the announcement earlier today that there was indeed a Season 3.

From the press release from EUE/Screen Gems Studios:

“We are thrilled to host ‘Under the Dome’ at our studios for 2015,” Vassar said. “We extend our gratitude to North Carolina Secretary of Commerce Sharon Decker for helping make this possible.”

“Retaining the production of “Under the Dome” provides economic stability for hundreds of North Carolina film workers and several hundred of Wilmington’s small businesses. Renewal of this production was critical to our local area,” Vassar says.  SEE MORE

Dixie Classic Fair History and Facts

dcfair1960

The scrambler ride at the Dixie Classic Fair, 1960.

The Dixie Classic Fair Winston Salem is generally held at the beginning of October. It is a ten-day event. The Dixie Classic Fair is an annual fair held in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The fair takes place every autumn on the Dixie Classic Fairgrounds (formerly known as the Forsyth County Fairgrounds), which is part of the Winston-Salem Entertainment-Sports Complex; the grounds are located adjacent to the Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum. 371,219 attended the 2007 Dixie Classic Fair, which was a new attendance record. This attendance record elevated the Dixie Classic Fair to the 50th largest attended Fair in North America.

Joe White and Jim Dalrymple, at left, examine heads for the baldest man contest at the Dixie Classic Fair, 1967.

The fair began in the former town of Salem as a grain exposition in 1882 (2007 was the 125th anniversary). In 1897, the Piedmont Tobacco Fair was started and shortly thereafter the two events merged to form the Winston-Salem Fair. The fair moved to its current fairgrounds in 1952 and changed its name to the “Dixie Classic Fair for Northwest North Carolina” in 1956. Today, the event is most commonly known as just the Dixie Classic Fair.

There is a wide variety of entertainment and activities that are suitable for the entire family. Rides, games, livestock competitions, wine tasting, and arts and crafts workshops are just a few of the reasons why Dixie Fair 2014 will be better than ever. ~Scott Ray
