You have been probably hearing that wine is getting to be big business in the Yadkin Valley. Vineyards are popping up around North Carolina. So much so, that there more than 100 wineries and vineyards in the state. But don’t just take it from me, take a look for yourself and experience the excitement of this new industry up close.

Yadkin Wine Tours, a wine tour company dedicated to offering “relax and learn” tours of the wineries in the Yadkin Valley Appellation, invites you to join them for a full-day tour, featuring transportation aboard a luxury motorcoach, wine tasting, lunch, and a short course on wine complete with great tips and some interesting history on North Carolina’s wine industry.

On Saturday, October 17, the tour company will be loading the bus up for a trip featuring “The Yadkin Valley Grape Festival Tour” Medaloni Vineyards, lunch at Old Stage Grill then on to the Grape Festival. Sunset Flicks is a collaboration between a/perture, the Arts Council & Coffee Park at Winston Square Park on Sundays in October. Films, food, music and art fill the lineup. October 18 features Ghostbusters

P.F. Chang China Bistro opens October 12 – P.F. Chang will open next Monday, October 12 at HanesTowne Village on Stratford Road. The long awaited Scottsdale, Arizona restaurant will now have two locations in the Triad. The other is in Greensboro. P.F. Chang will join PDQ, Hickory Tavern and Tijuana Flats Burrito Co. Along with Starbucks, Walmart Neighborhood Market, Fleet Feet Sports. LA Fitness, and Bank of North Carolina

The Famous Toastery opens next week. The Famous Toastery located at 770 Liberty View Court in the Arts District (The former District Bar and Grill) will have a soft opening this week and open for business the week of October 12. The restaurant is based in Lake Norman and is known for its breakfast and lunch that will feature fresh, made-from-scratch avocado omelets, lobster benedict, lobster rolls and salads. The owners plan to open for dinner at a later date.

Twin City Hive change name and moving – Coming Fall 2015 Twin City Hive located 301 Brookstown Ave will move down the hall and become Twin City Hive Coffee Lounge. More seating, private patio, conference room, lounge area and new food items. Same great coffee. Same great atmosphere.

6th Annual Winston-Salem City-Dash Boos & Brews 5K – Saturday, October 31foodandbrew

The 6th Annual Winston-Salem City-Dash Boos & Brews 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run will take place at BB&T Ballpark and downtown on Saturday, October 31st beginning at 12 p.m.

Participants are encouraged to run in their Halloween costumes, but suiting up is not required, (just a lot of fun). Start and finish are located at BB&T Ballpark in downtown Winston-Salem. Prizes will be awarded for fastest times and best costumes…plus a festive bash following the race! So, find your race face and start running.
