Auditions for Route 66

route66Kernersville Little Theatre will hold auditions for Route 66 on Monday, July 18 and Tuesday, July 19th at 7 pm – come to the lobby for check-in. No appointment is necessary and everyone is welcome to audition. Character descriptions are listed on the KLT auditions page at http://kltheatre.com/audition. Performance dates are September 16 / 17/ 23 /24 at 8:00 pm and September 18 / 25 at 2:00 pm. All performances will be held at the James Fitzpatrick Auditorium.

Scot/Tenor I: Approx. Vocal Range – Bb (F#); Very Strong Falsetto-sings the very high Beach Boy-style ‘wah-oohs’ throughout the show. Plays live acoustic guitar on “Used To Be.” Sings lead/secondary on: “Hot Rod Queen,” “Mother Road,” “Used To Be,” “Beep Beep,” “Truck Stop Cutie,” “The Long Red Line,” “Diesel On My Tail,” “The Little Old Lady From Pasadena,” “Hey Little Cobra.”

Andy/Tenor: Approx. Vocal Range: C – G (Db); Also Strong Falsetto – sings the falsetto parts when Scot is singing lead.  Sings lead/secondary on: “Every Woman I Know,” “Mother Road,” “Tulsa Straight Ahead,” “Long Tall Texan,” “Don’t Haul Bricks On 66,” “Dead Man’s Curve,” “GTO.” Plays the waitress in “Truck Stop Cutie.”

Brandon/Bari-tenor/Bass: Approx. Vocal Range: (A) B – E (with strong G); sings low trucker songs, many solos in tenor range. Sings lead/secondary on: “Let’s Go For A Ride,” “Girl On the Billboard,” “Beep Beep,” “Rolaids, Doan’s Pills and Preparation H,” Gallop to Gallup,” “Diesel On My Tail,” “Highway Patrol,” “SS 396.”

Michael/Baritone/Bass: Approx. Vocal Range: G – F; vocally sings bass line, most solos are in bari-tenor range. Sings lead/secondary on: “Bring My Cadillac Back,” “Used To Be,” “Six Days On The Road,” “Oklahoma Hills,” “Truck Drivin’ Man,” “Don’t Haul Bricks On 66,” “King Of The Road,” “Move Out Little Mustang.” Plays the little old lady from Pasadena.

P.F. Chang’s to open on October 12th in Winston-Salem

pf-changs-750xx1198-675-0-78P.F. Chang’s announced Monday that it will open its restaurant in Winston-Salem on Oct. 12 at HanesTowne Village in Winston-Salem.

The Asian-themed eatery will be located in a building in front of the just-opened Walmart Neighborhood Market, the Winston-Salem Journal reported.

HanesTowne is being developed by Dobson-based Crown Cos. on 35 acres along South Stratford Road — the former site of a Hanesbrands plant.

The company said in an email statement that it is currently hiring and training employees for P.F. Chang’s China Bistro under construction in HanesTowne Village, off Stratford Road.

Downtown Winston-Salem Partnership has announced their inaugural Restaurant Week 2015 will start on Sunday February 15 and end on Saturday February 21. Restaurant Week 2015 will feature a prix fixe menu for $20 and/or $30 from around 20 downtown restaurants.  “Downtown dining offers something for everyone” said Jason Thiel, President, DWSP, “and there is no better way to experience all the variety downtown dining has to offer.”

“Restaurant week is a way to showcase downtown Winston-Salem and how the food scene here is up-and-coming. For chefs, the opportunity to create something unique using fresh and local products is a challenge and a way to highlight their abilities and the resources for restaurants that exist right here in town,” according to Will Kingery, owner of King’s Crab Shack and Willow’s Bistro.

Greg Richardson, owner at Hutch and Harris, stated, “We are very excited to be part of this. The Big Eat has been very successful and this looks to be another exciting chance to bring folks downtown.”

The event will be Friday, Nov. 14 at 7:30 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m.

Joel Osteen spoke to FOX8 Thursday about what the community can expect.

Osteen will also hold a book signing at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13 at Walmart on Wendover Avenue in Greensboro.

Enjoy The Lego Movie on the videoboard at BB&T Ballpark

 Due to a chilly, rainy weather forecast, the free showing of The Lego Movie originally scheduled for Saturday, November 1, has been postponed.

 This Movie Night, presented by Allstate Agent Eric Tang, will now take place Friday, November 7. Gates open at 5 p.m., and the movie will begin at 6 p.m.

 Both admission and parking are free, and concession stands will be open for food and beverage purchases. Moviegoers may not bring their own food or beverages into the facility. Fans are welcome to sit on the field or in select areas of BB&T Ballpark. Lawn chairs are not permitted.

The Lego Movie was released this February and became an overwhelming success at the box office. This animated film features the voices of Will Ferrell, Morgan Freeman, Liam Neeson and many other entertainment stars.

Kabobs on Fourth, a new Mediterranean restaurant located at 214 West Fourth Street in downtown Winston-Salem, will open in late October or early November according to owner, Nazanin Kaussari .  The restaurant is located at 214 West Fourth Street. Kabobs on Fourth will seat 70 diners and will feature counter service, sidewalk dining and an on-site bakery in the front window.  The menu features grilled beef, chicken, lamb, vegetables, ground beef and fish served with rice and salad with a typical price range of $8 to $12. The menu also includes a variety of Vegetarian dishes that are new to Winston Salem’s diners’ taste. Beer and wine are also available for purchase.
