Video of Jerome Davis at Red Carpet Premier for The Longest Ride Movie
Here’s a little clip from the Red Carpet Premier of The Longest Ride. Scott Eastwood does a great job in his role of a bull rider, he took his role very serious. Josh Faircloth helped him with his bull riding moves and Jerome helped him out with his chute procedure. He wanted to make sure he looked like the real deal. ~Jerome Davis

On Location party set at Dobson farm for The Longest Ride Actors & Background Extras

Foothills Arts Council will host an On Location Celebration at the Olinger Farm on Thursday April 16th  in DOBSON, NC.

A number of area residents got their chance to be on the big screen recently while crews were in the area filming for the latest Nicholas Sparks film based on his book “The Longest Ride.”

Olinger Farm

The Foothills Arts Council will be celebrating the upcoming film, which opens April 10, with an on location party April 16 at the Olinger family farm.dobsonlongestrideScenes from the movie, starring Scott Eastwood, were filmed at the farm in Devotion. The farm was restored by Elkin resident Amy Aldridge’s father, the late Dr. Sheff Olinger. Many local residents were extras in the film including Gary and Alexa Maxey; Kennedy, Henry, and Lisa Freeman; Gray, Melinda and Mia Burchette; Scott Ray; Aspen Jackson; and Emma Aldridge.

“The On Location Celebration was the idea of Robin Turner and Lisa Freeman as a way to celebrate the filming in our own backyard,” said arts council Executive Director Leighanne Martin Wright. “With the blessing of Amy Aldridge and her family, the idea blossomed into the party that is sure to be a good time.”

The party also will serve as a fundraiser for the Foothills Arts Council which provides a variety of programming from outdoor festivals to art classes, gallery exhibits and performances showcasing the talent of local actors, Wright said.

Tickets for the party are $25 and include a full BBQ dinner. Skull Camp beer also will be available. Tickets must be purchased in advance at the arts council, located at 129 Church St., Elkin or at Diana’s Bookstore, 222 E. Main St., Elkin.

“As part of our mission to make the arts accessible to all of our community, most of our events are free or have a minimal ticket price,” Wright said. “The money raised from this event will help the arts council tremendously as we operate totally on grants, donations and memberships and provide a vital cultural component to our community,”

The party starts at 6 p.m. on April 16, with the band Face the Music providing live entertainment from the front porch. Organizers are asking that those coming dress for western fun.

“I have asked my daughter to send me her cowboy boots for the night since I don’t own any,” Wright said with a laugh. “Who knows, I may just keep them.”

The farm is located at 362 Grover Cockerham Road, Dobson, on the Mitchell River. A rain date is set for April 19.

“The property is gorgeous and to know a movie was filmed right there is rather fun,” Robin Turner said. “Nothing better than having a party and benefiting art in the process.”

Through the sponsorships of Frank and Jeanette Hendrick, Dr. David Cline DDS, Speedy Chef Restaurant, Edward Jones Investments (Barry Revis and Frank Beals), Parkwood Eye Center, Basin Creek Realty, Animal Ark Veterinary Hospital, Diana’s Bookstore, Lifestore Insurance, The Stereo Shop, Dr. Robert Peterson General Surgery, and State Farm Steve Owings, all the proceeds from ticket sales will go to the Foothills Arts Council to help fund its varied programming.

About Jerome Davis:  Jerome was born on August 10, 1972 in Colorado Springs, CO where his father was stationed in the military. Six months after his birth, he and his family moved back to Archdale, NC to the Davis Family Ranch where he grew up and still lives today.

jerome

Jerome’s shining moment was in 1995 when he became the 1995 PRCA World Bull Riding Champion. He continued to rip through PRCA and PBR. He was ranked in the top five each year in the PRCA since 1993 and was a National Finals qualifier since ’94 in the PBR (more Career Stats).

Tragedy struck on March 14, 1998, when Jerome was thrown from a bull breaking his neck. The injury left him with paralysis from the chest down. Although Jerome is paralyzed, nothing can keep him down. He is a true inspiration of how you should live your life and keep moving forward with a positive outlook. He inspired his wife Tiffany, as they were married October 17, 1998. He also inspired the PBR- as he was awarded the “Ring of Honor” during the 1998 PBR Finals.  For more info visit http://www.jeromedavis.com/meet_jerome.asp

Jerome Davis continues to have a lasting impact on riders throughout the PBR. FULL STORY: http://at.PBR.com/CTrG.

It was a honor for me to meet Jerome Davis while playing a V.I.P. Sponsor in the upcoming movie “The Longest Ride”(Nicholas Sparks Movie The Longest Ride The film is based on the novel The Longest Ride by Nicholas Sparks) to be released April 2015 (USA). The Davises are members of American Bucking Bull, Inc., and as such participate nationally in stock breeding. Some of their bulls will be featured in an upcoming Nicholas Sparks movie that was filmed in Winston-Salem and Wilmington.

The signature event at the Jerome Davis Ranch is the Jerome Davis Professional Bull Riders Invitational which will take place at his arena August 29 and 30. (Davis is one of the founders of Professional Bull Riders.) On the same two dates the ABBI Futurity & Classic Challenge will be going on.

Both of these events require tickets that will be available by calling (336) 861-7673 after August 1.

In September, the Ranch will host another annual event, the He Paid Your Fees Christian Junior Rodeo. Any young person, age 19 and younger can enter and participate at no charge. Admission for onlookers is two cans of food. This has been one of the area’s largest food drives over the last several years. As many as 500 kids will enter. Davis hopes these kids become the stars and fans of the future. ~Scott Ray
