Often referred to as the “poet of the violin,” Joshua Bell is one of the world’s most celebrated violinists. He continues to enchant audiences with his breathtaking virtuosity, tone of sheer beauty, and charismatic stage presence. His restless curiosity, passion, universal appeal, and multi-faceted musical interests have earned him the rare title of “classical music superstar.” Bell’s most recent challenge is his appointment as the new Music Director of the Academy of St Martin in the Fields, the first person and first American to hold this post since Sir Neville Marriner formed the orchestra in 1958.

Kids of Childhood Cancer In Honor of Brandon Ingram

This month’s The Loop-Kernersville Fundraiser will be in Honor of Brandon Ingram – a local 10 year old has been battling Ewing’s Sarcoma since he was diagnosed on November 28, 2011. He relapsed on June 14, 2013 and is now on Hospice care in Winston-Salem.brandoningram1

The financial toll of cancer, the bills, and what costs are yet to come have hit hard. Our foundation Kids of Childhood Cancer has offered a “Brandon’s Warriors” Fundraiser Night at our monthly Loop Night on February 27th.

10% of all proceeds from all orders from anyone who comes will be donated to Brandon, on top of any donations to the foundation. 100% of OUR donations will help Brandon’s family as well.

Twin City Kiwanis Club Pancake Jamboree! Friday, February 21

Twin City Kiwanis Club Pancake Jamboree! Friday, February 21

pancakes1

Friday, February 21 marks the return of one of my favorite events in the community and one of the best places to get people together over food: the Twin City Kiwanis Club’s Pancake Jamboree! This annual event, which draws hundreds of people, will be held at downtown the Benton Convention Center from 6:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

It’s a great experience for which people have queued up for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The appeal of the Jamboree is that it’s one of the few times you might enjoy a down-home meal, family-style, among friends and co-workers-a rarity in the fast-paced world we live in today. The great thing is, you’ll probably run into people you might not have seen all winter and share a little time together. Tickets are $6 for adults, $3 for children under 12. Proceeds benefit the Twin City Kiwanis Clubs community projects.

Brandon relapsed on June 14, 2013 after being sick for weeks. At his 9 month checkup an xray discovered that the cancer had spread to his lungs and chest wall. The tumors were multiple and too extensive for surgery. He was given 6 months to 1 year at best then with only a 7% chance of a cure. After enduring more IV chemo treatments and radiation, his body had enough and it was beginning to cause more harm than good. He is currently receiving Hospice care at home and holistic nutritional therapy in hopes that he can get strong enough and we can find another treatment somewhere else soon. We have been fortunate until this year that insurance paid for his care, but 2014 is different, and all of the holistic therapy has to be paid for by us. A fundraising effort is underway that  we hope can open up new avenues for treatment that we haven’t been able to even consider before!
Your prayers and support are appreciated! ~April
